The Magor Brewery in South Wales which opened in 1979 is the largest AB Inbev brewery in the UK producing over 2 million pints of beer per day.
In 1984, Magor installed 2,800 square metres of Ucrete in their Kegging Hall. The brewery has expanded mightily over the years, with many more Ucrete floors being installed, and now makes some of the world’s most popular beers, such as Stella Artois, Beck’s and Budweiser, but the original Kegging Hall floor is still in service today after more than 30 years.
The Kegging Hall cleans and sterilises the returned kegs inside and out, fills and labels the barrels. Cleaning and filling up to 1000 kegs an hour. It is not uncommon for a keg, weighing 72 kg when full, to exit the line and impact on the floor.
The floor is continually impacted by detergent and sanitisers at temperatures up to 80 o C and over a pH range from 1 (acidic) to 13,8 (alkaline).
Resisting both the heavy impact without cracking or debonding as well as a wide range of chemicals requires a special kind of floor.
